Series of online talks on ancient cosmology, archæoastronomy, vel sim.

The Chairs of Ancient History, Contemporary History and Stellar Astrophysics at the University of Potsdam, Germany, organize in the winter term 2023-2024 a cycle of lectures dedicated to the topic “Finding Our Ways in Space and Time – Perceptions of the Universe”. All lectures will take place both in presence in Potsdam (Campus am Neuen Palais) and online via Zoom. November 21st, 2023: Mathieu Ossendrijver (Berlin), Babylonian Predictive Science and Conceptions of the Universe
November 28th, 2023: Elisa Coda (Pisa), Ancient Cosmos Becomes Medieval: Aristotle Transformed
December 19th, 2023: Pouyan Rezvani (Munich), The Transmission of Astral Sciences in the Middle Ages: Medieval Arabic Translations of Ptolemy’s Almagest
January 30th, 2024: Nicola Barbagli (Trier), Egyptian Skies: Astronomical Studies and Astrological Practice in Roman Egypt
