The Department of Classics at Columbia University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Latin to begin July 1st, 2025. The field of specialization is open, but we aim to complement the expertise of the current faculty. Late Antiquity is a particular area of interest; others include, but are not limited to, science and medicine; religion and magic; law; and material culture. The ability to teach broadly in Latin language and literature at all levels, undergraduate and graduate, is a prerequisite. The successful applicant is expected to have the Ph.D. in hand by the time of employment and will teach four courses (2/2) per year.
