It is to my great sorrow to I report that I received word yesterday evening of the passing of Dr. Zeke Mazur, of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Zeke was a leading expert on ancient magic, mysteries, and especially Gnosticism and Neoplatonism, the author of many articles and an absolutely terrific dissertation on Plotinus and the Platonizing Sethian literature discovered at Nag Hammadi. I can also say that, personally, he was a close friend who I have known for many years, from the very beginning of my career. It’s a terrible loss for the field and for all of us who were lucky enough to know him.
